check out my new blog!! BHAM!
I wish I could blog more…
October 2, 2008 at 3:26 am
And post up more cool things like the pros Jamie, Nicolas, and Yaniv… but time is not on my side right now…I am also in need of updating my blog layout…
But I did manage to sneak in a few tutorials for practicing. I have to say that I am not a big fan of tutorials because it’s either they suck and don’t explain well or I just suck at understanding them. It never turns out the way it looks in the examples. In any case, I still learn something new, whether the finished result looks like the example..or not.
Some of the techniques you learn, can really blow you away.
Here’s one I played around with… using a couple of different things I saw in psdtuts.com
can you guess what old time classic that line comes from? its a favourite of mine…
Is that a challange?!?!

So Yaniv was playing around with type on photoshop and challenged me to finish the wallpaper he made. I played around with the swirl tool in illustrator. It was actually a lot harder than I thought trying to control the swirls. Here’s what I came up with:
Now I’m waiting for my next challenge….

I have abandoned thee…
I’m starting to work on new things so I’ll be blogging more often… I hope
Last month has been crazy getting ready for grad and getting our portfolios up and running
Here it is:
2 weeks!!!
June 25, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Only two weeks to go… Do I feel screwed?? just a little
My feelings towards this project have been going up and down with each week that comes.
I get all inspired when I finally figured out my concept,
then I get all worried because the sketches were taking longer than I thought,
then I learned to sketch faster and how to cheat each frame by using photoshop,
then I’m bummed out because I wanted to film at a skytrain station but I’m not allowed,
then when I had meetings with Dougal and Sebastien, They shot my idea down before I finished my presentation, so that gave me a heart attack but then they loved my assets so I was back to be inspired. Dougal introduced me to Banksy who did something similar to the art direction of my project. Check out his stuff its interessting! neway
then my mentor tells my I’m far from being done…
then my mom texts me telling me to do some stretches because I look heavy when I dance -_-
wooow can you let me be just a LITTLE emo??
Oh well whatever I’m doing is fun whether or not it’ll turn out well…. or not hahah
Any way, Just to be random… Here’s where I started from….it’s my discovery project from foundation
so.. I discovered that I can do motion?
don’t hate! It’s my first motion piece
A few more sketches

I know I suck at drawing hands… practice I must!!!!!!
Since I’m in the topic of poverty… I just received some news that the learning center for the poor kids in the Philippines that we’ve been fund raising for is going to be built. For years now, we’ve been taking funds from our year end show to give to “GK” which is an organization that re-builds homes in the slums of the Philippines.
The money we’ve raised so far is enough to build the learning/recreational center we’ve always wanted for those not so fortunate kids. It’s going to be called “Praise Team Paraisong Pambata” and it translates as PraiseTEAM’s Paradise for Children. It’s quite exciting and very uplifting for me as I continue to work on my motion final about Poverty.
I wish I could be there in person to help build but for now, will help from afar.
Finally going somewhere

It would’ve been a good idea to start working on my final project a little during my spring break so I have a good head start. Too bad I slept the whole time….
I was also disturbingly uninspired. I knew what I wanted to do in terms of the subject but when I thought about how I would deliver it creatively, I was totally lost.
I’ve been looking at a bunch of other people’s work and looking at pictures to give me an idea of whats possible and I must say that it is helping me a lot. I don’t know why I didn’t do this in the other terms! I would’ve done a better job….
Anyways.. I don’t think my concept and my story is super clear yet but I think I’m doing better than I was two weeks ago.
I’ve developed a mood board for my motion piece…

To experiment with how I’m going to put all the elements together I started sketching. As I was browsing pictures on flickr… I came across an album full of pictures of a little boy named Roney who roamed the streets of Brazil. I was drawn in by his story… from the thoughts in head , the progress he made when people took the time to try and change his rough life, to his brutal murder. It was a really touching story so I was really inspired to draw him. He had beautiful eyes.

Print Magazine Front Cover Design
I took a poster that I was designing for this event and changed a few elements to fit the theme of the magazine cover.
See I could write out my explanation for this design but when I explained my design to the class, Robin kinda made me feel stupid cuz she was like. “Yes I can see that just by looking at it.” Soooo yes I’ll just say its pretty self explanatory…
Which color do u like?
Finally apprectiating 3D

I HATE MAYA!!!
but i looooove Cinema 4D
Back in foundation we had to learn 3D graphics using Maya and it was the worst experience in the world for me. I failed the class because I gave up on it and from then on I was anti-3D and I did not want to have anything to do with it. I was dreading our 3D graphics class when I came into digital design and I prolly was the most un-enthusiastic person in class. But then I was introduced to
and I fell inlove! And because of that I made my whole title sequence in 3D.
My title sequence “The Passing” is suppose to have a sort of a creepy/ eerie feel to it and I used my choice of music to bring out that atmosphere.
Before we were assigned this title sequence project at the beginning of the term I came from this town in the states called Leavenworth. It was a theme town which was quite interesting and the theme I’m guessing was European? But it did remind me of my trip to Germany in 2005 because of the buildings ,the cobblestone roads and most especially the food which was super delicious!. We came upon a music box shop and on the walls of this shop were clocks with different designs.
That’s where I got inspired by the clocks I saw. They’re called rhythm clocks and I have to admit that I have not seen any clocks do that. I can’t really explain the funky movements they did, you’ll just have to watch my title sequence. I you’re interessed in seeing what they really look like , look up “Rythm clocks” on You Tube.=)

This is my term two final motion piece called ” Arcadia ”
I blogged about it earlier talking about my process and what not.
I can’t say I am fully satisfied with it, because it definitely needs way more polishing but as always… I finish my projects last minute, so I can’t expect too much out of it.
I really have got to get out of this bad habit =P
I had a lot of fun filming my sisters for this project. I dunno where they get it from but these little girls know how to act and I love it! It was the easiest thing to get them to do whatever I wanted them to do. And they loved watching themselves in the final product.
Whoa!!! i can finally have videos up here

I’m sorry I have abandoned thee, its just that…. um I have no better excuse than plain laziness…
So term three’s not bad. I like how I can sleep in almost everyday but if you think about it… kinda wastes half of your day cuz theres no way i can work at home.
My favourite class so far is surprisingly 3D… weiiiird cuz i hated maya but I actually like cindema 4D. I started workin on my title sequence in illustrator but it didn’t look quite as good as I wanted. I promised myself i wouldn’t touch 3D for my final projects but I DID! and I think it’s looking way better.
Here’s wat I have so far for my title sequence…I’m still trying to learn how to light it properly.. It doesn’t look like much n u prolly can’t tell what it is but wait til the finished product
I like the color Purple
January 8, 2008 at 12:08 pm
unfortunately our new room isnt purple enough…i think
i want more purple!
neways back from the relaxing yet boring holidays. I must admit I wasn’t TOO excited to go back (don’t get me wrong, I missed everyone) but I wasn’t looking forward to all the work that we’re going to be assigned again.
I was actually late coming to school yesterday. So I was a block away from school ,un-enthusiastic about getting there, when I got a phone call from Nic and he was like ” we’re all waiting for you hurry up and get to class “ I knew he was prolly joking and people couldn’t care less if i was there or not but for sum reason that phone call made my day. It made me feel good knowin that sumone was thinkin bout me, enough to bug me that early in the morning. Reminds me that super awesome people are going to be there when I get to school. WOOOOHOOOO sooo dramatic!! roll your eyes if u must
I guess it’s good to be back

I just finished presenting my snowboard design just a few seconds ago. I was gonna do more with it but I realized that I had lots of other work to do so I just left it as it is and I’m pretty happy with it. The only problem I had was presenting my snowboard right after Jenny and her snowboard is super awesome.
Neways, here it is….
I took a sketch that I made and played with it on illustrator. HAHA its the kind of snowboard i wouldn’t use, and hang it up on my wall.
