New Site Launch

October 14th, 2007

Welcome to the new look of my personal blog!

The new site was designed using a grid system, which is commonly used in print design, but not so common on the web. I am really happy with the result of using a grid for a web design, I feel it was a great way to design a site, and something I would do again. It resulted in a very clean and organized site.

I chose to go with a simpler design this time around, which was the result of sitting back and not designing, but rather thinking more about what the design should be. Who it should reflect. The end result is something I feel is a way better reflection of myself and my work, as well as, a better place for me to share my work.

Look forward to a couple of major posts in the coming weeks.

Blogs worth checking out

June 22nd, 2007

My blog is just one out of 22 created by students, many of which have never done any web design/authoring before, and there were some really great results. I spent today looking at all the sites created within the class, and I was really impressed with some of them, so I wanted to take a moment and share a few of them that I felt were really strong.

(In no particular order)

The first is by Jadyn. I really love the style of her site. It is a very clean and well rounded site, every aspect of it flows really well together. It really shows Jadyn’s skill as a designer, and stands out from all the other sites created within our class, creating a very distinct and likable feel.

Check out Jadyn’s site here.

The second belongs to Annie. This is a site that immediately catches your attention. The colour used is just beautiful, and really creates a nice flow through out the site. Annie has a really strong attention to detail, which makes this site a stand out.

Check out Annie’s site here.

The third on my list belongs to Ivan. Ivan has created a great feel in site, allowing the colour and texture to really be a dominate force, Ivan’s site is immediately appealing to the user. On top of that, he has gone with a interesting layout, and a great navigation system, that is simple, bold, yet very stylish.

Check out Ivan’s site here.

Thats my list of stand outs, sites that offered something extra in the design, but there are other solid designs as well, make sure to check out my blogroll for some more great sites!
