Whoa, long time no post. Time to resurrect my blog - for a good start with a short film I created while I was in Japan. I was inspired by the Japanese way of living and tried to capture it on tape. The footage was shot mostly in Tokyo and some of it in Nagano where I found a unique place where wild monkeys live. This film was shot entirely in HD with a Sony HDR9. Enjoy!
Today is the deadline for dd08 final project submissions so I decided to post what I have been working on for the past 2 months. This website represents a concept of sharing video tutorials in a web 2.0 styled environment. This final project was a great experience for me, I learned a lot and improved my skills in designing a simple and usable website. Unfortunately this website is not functional. To make this into a working, functional site it would require a developer to work on the back-end of it. Hope you like the concept - any comments are welcome!
I found this website that does a crazy job of selling a product. In this case it’s a video tutorial (I think, lol). I have no idea if this marketing method is working for this guy but he created a LOT of text content for this site. I think this kind of advertising is like the stupid commercials on cable TV for the internet. Someone is making money on this… so I guess it works… ?
Canada part 3, I moved! From a basement in Kitsilano to a “normal home” in Vancouver East. It’s not close to beach anymore but the new house is just great - the view from the balcony is pretty funny considering Its Canada.
On other news, new DVD tutorial comming soon to amepi. Stay tuned.
If you are a iphone fan, just to let you know a bunch of guys figured out in a 10-step way to disable the sim-lock in the iphone so you can use it on different netwroks (not only AT&T!).
** Update! Now you can unlock the iphone just using a peace of software…
This is probably the best photo I was able to take of a seagull. By the way, did you know seagulls actually LIKE when you take photos of them? It started going “craaa craaa kwwuiiikkk” when I stopped taking pictures.
Discovery is done. I know what I’m doing. Getting to planning phase for the amepi project. Currently working on my WBS. I think it’s the best way to visualize your ideas/project and one of the most important parts of project management. Anyway, I already did an interface prototype how the interfacemay feel like on amepi. Logo coming soon, stay tuned! It’s going to be cute…
Work on amepi tutorials is starting slowly. I have had two meetings with my mentor, Jacob Tran. We brainstormed a bit on the project and talked about what can be done. Really cool features developed… I think he is a great mentor for my project. The project is sill in discovery phase, I have a bunch of ideas for this project. Scope is getting big, so now I have to decide what will actually be done.
I’m adding a new category to my blog. I will post updates regarding my final project at VFS. In short, mepi will take video tutorials to the next level. It’s still only a concept… stay tuned!
What’s a project slam? We have 3 classes of Digital Design: DD07, DD08 (yay), DD09. 2 students from DD09, 1 from DD08 and DD07. We are supposed to create a commercial in 8 hours. That’s all know.
I’m currently involved in a really cool project for flash physical interfaces. I will be building a teleo pan/tilt system. VFS ordered 2 servo’s, and some other parts needed to build this system. What will it allow me to do? Well, It will enable doing a programed pan/tilt shot that can be repeated over and over. So think about a pan shot time lapse of a waterfront with a person swimming at normal speed. It sounds funny but this video is something that my system will enable you to do. I will post an update on this project as soon as I will have something to show.
Just came back from Poland, it was wonderful to take a break. Unfortunately I lost a week of school and I have to catch up now. We are shooting a music video for a band called Burlap and the song is “Friends in high places”. The concept of the video is pretty crazy, hopefully we can pull it off. We have a great team (this is a 5 person project) so its pretty big. VFS is doing an interesting thing simulating this project like it was in a real production environment. I’m the assistant director of this so this means I will have to coordinate this whole project. I know this will be a LOT of fun. More info soon…
